    33. The term predominantly used by all the Church Fathers to describe the mingling of God with the believers. Deification does not mean that human nature is changed so that it is no longer human, nor does it imply an evolution into God whereby humanity becomes Deity, thus an object of worship. The term describes the process in which human nature by participation in the divine life (II Peter 1:4) is mingled with divinity and uplifted. For an excellent review of the subject see The Testimony of Church History Regarding the Mystery of the Mingling of God with Man by Bill Freeman, available through The Firstfruit.
